SeAH Wind is facing a possible strike action at its Teesworks monopile factory in north-east England amid a dispute with trade union GMB over pay conditions.
“SeAH Wind has received formal notification from the GMB Union regarding a forthcoming ballot for industrial action,” spokesperson for the manufacturer said.
“This relates to the company’s recent proposals on annual pay adjustments and shift premiums.
“While no in-person meetings have yet taken place, a meeting is planned in the very near future to discuss the concerns raised by GMB members.”
Voting on possible strike action began earlier this week, after workers rejected an offer of a 3.1% pay increase, the union said.
The ballot will continue until 31 July and cover more than 150 workers at the plant.
GMB organiser Andrew Blunt said: “Workers overwhelmingly rejected this frankly miserly pay offer and instructed us to move to a formal strike ballot.
“SeAH must commit to decent working conditions for these workers, who are building the future of energy in the UK.”
SeAH Wind is set to supply the monopile foundations for Orsted’s 2.9GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm situated approximately 120km off the Norfolk coast in the North Sea.
