The Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority has approved the extended Setting Up Authorisation for Phase 2 of Rezolv’s Vifor wind farm, bringing the project’s total capacity to 461MW.
Rezolv said the second phase will add 42 turbines and is scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2027.
It follows construction of the first phase, comprising 30 turbines of 6.4MW each, which is already underway and expected online before the end of 2025.
With the permit now secured, Rezolv said Vifor will become the largest wind farm built in Romania in the last decade, and the second largest in the country’s history.
Once operational, the full site will generate enough electricity to power more than 700,000 homes.
Rezolv said the approval highlights its commitment to delivering Romania’s lowest levelised cost of energy from wind.
The company added that Vifor will support the national goal of sourcing at least 38.3% of gross final energy consumption from renewables by 2030.
