Cable-laying work has been completed for EnBW’s 960MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm, the largest project of its kind in Germany.
Seaway7 toasted the installation of the final inner-array cable, for a total of approximately 100km. This connects the 13th and last string of the project to the convertor platform Borwin5.
The first cable was installed on 10 March, following the project engineering, procurement and construction phase.
Seaway7 used cable-laying vessel Seaway Aimery and installation support vessel Seaway Moxie for the project. These vessels, along with the teams on the convertor platform and the He Dreiht team onshore, have now laid and pulled all 64 cables.
Seaway Aimery is now focusing on trenching of the last cables, while teams onboard Seaway Moxie are completing the stripping, routing and jointing works.
He Dreiht, which translates to “It Spins”, will feature 64 wind turbines and is located around 90km northwest of the island of Borkum and 110km west of Heligoland.
As one of the first offshore wind farms to be built without state funding, it will instantly double EnBW’s offshore portfolio of 976MW.
Once complete, He Dreiht will be able to supply 1.1 million households with renewable energy.
