The Saare 1 Offshore Wind Consortium has appointed Nikon Vidjajev as development project director to lead the next phase of its floating wind initiative in Estonia.
The move follows the Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority’s decision to initiate superficies licence proceedings and launch the environmental impact assessment for the Saare 1 maritime area.
Vidjajev, who is based in Tallinn, is a certified electrical engineer and oceanography researcher with a background in developing marine technologies such as autonomous wave sensors and energy converters.
His leadership spans public and private sectors, international R&D, and offshore energy programmes, with expertise in permitting, environmental studies, and funding.
The consortium said Vidjajev’s appointment would ensure “scientific rigour and real-world execution” as Estonia prepares for its first floating wind farm.
On 18 June, the Saare 1 project won the Seanergy Award for International Cooperation, recognising its cross-border collaboration and innovation in offshore energy.
The Saare 1 Offshore Wind Consortium includes French developer Oxan Energy, regional specialist Ocean Connect Energy, and renewable finance adviser SNOW BV.
