Vestas bags 84MW order double in Germany

reNEWS EditorialBy reNEWS EditorialMay 13, 20252 Mins Read
Vestas lands 58MW German turbine double

Vestas has bagged three turbine orders in Germany totalling 84MW – and has now surpassed 1GW of firm order intake for its 7+MW onshore wind turbine variants.

WWS Projektbau GmbH & Co. KG ordered three of Vestas’ V172-7.2MW turbines for the 22MW Weisendorf project, with delivery expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Another order for the 7+MW variants came from Berliner Stadtwerke GmbH for the 14MW Bernau Albertshof 2 wind farm.

Vestas will deliver two of its V172-7.2MW units for this project.

Meanwhile ABO Energy has ordered 48MW worth of Vestas’ V150-6.0 turbines for its Schierenberg project, with delivery and commissioning planned for 2026.

All three orders include a 20-year service agreement.

With the first two orders, Vestas surpasses 1GW of firm orders for its 7+ MW onshore wind turbine variants, which include the V172-7.2MW and V162-7.2MW.

Senior vice president for NCE sales onshore Jens Kück said: “We are delighted to celebrate this 1GW order intake milestone for our 7+MW wind turbine variants.

“It shows that these variants have evolved into our customers’ preferred choice, especially in Germany.

“Leveraging the modular design approach of the proven EnVentus platform, our 7+MW variants offer efficient energy production and a great business case in low to medium wind conditions.

“We are very happy with the performance of our four prototypes in the field in Denmark and Germany and are excited to begin installation of our customers turbines in Europe.”

The V162-7.2MW prototype was commissioned in 2023, followed by the V172-7.2MW in 2024.

Two additional prototypes have since been commissioned.

Since the launch of the EnVentus platform in 2019, Vestas has secured more than 19GW of firm orders in 28 markets and installed more than 10GW of EnVentus wind turbines.
