Orient Cable (NBO) has been awarded a contract to provide a HVDC offshore wind farm subsea cable capable of transmitting 2GW by China Southern Power Grid.
The agreement is to produce a cable around 118km long, which NBO said is the longest distance in China’s offshore wind industry.
NBO said: “This achievement further builds on our legacy and long-lasted R&D investment, has proved NBO’s leading role in HVDC power transmission industry.
“The project will also be considered as another base to standardize 500kV HVDC OWF technology.
“NBO has been awarded/delivered groundbreaking projects in both HVDC and EHVAC area, with achievements reinforce our position as an industry leader.
“Also, it marks a critical step in China’s renewable energy revolution and highlights the NBO’s unmatched engineering expertise in extra high-voltage, long-length and high-performance cable systems.
“NBO is committed to redefine the boundaries of what’s possible, driving global progress in clean energy transmission.”
