Goldwind’s 450MW Bashan wind project in Tasmania has been included on the Australian Government’s inaugural National Renewable Energy Priority List.
This recognition will expedite regulatory assessments, providing greater certainty for planning and development processes.
“Our proposed wind farm will still undergo rigorous environmental and regulatory assessments to ensure that the Central Highlands environment and local community concerns are addressed during the planning and development phases,” said Medard Boutry, General Manager Development at Goldwind in Australia.
Boutry added: “We look forward to collaborating with our local community and First Nations peoples to develop initiatives focused on training and skills, supply chain procurement, and community benefit funds.”
Located in the Central Highlands of Tasmania, the project (image of the site) will create 300 jobs during construction and provide up to 25 ongoing local jobs over its 25-year lifespan.
The region is already home to several significant renewable energy projects.
Goldwind has developed and constructed the nearby Cattle Hill Wind Farm in the Central Highlands.
