Norwegian power companies Salten Kraftsamband (SKS) and NTE have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly investigate and develop wind power projects from Trøndelag and further north.
SKS and NTE are locally rooted power groups, with long traditions in energy production and business development in Nordland and Trøndelag.
Liina Veerme, chief executive of SKS, said: “More renewable energy is a prerequisite for future value creation, industrial growth and jobs in both Trøndelag and Northern Norway.
“We are already experiencing that industrial projects with potential for future jobs are struggling to establish themselves, while at the same time it is taking too long to reduce existing greenhouse gas emissions.
“We have an ambition to produce more local energy, and onshore wind power is the only form of energy that can ensure this quickly enough and on a large enough scale.”
NTE Energi’s executive vice president for energy Inge Forseth, said: “We strongly believe in working together.
“Through this, we increase our implementation power and make it possible to take a greater role in the work on the development of more renewable power.
“We also want to see if we can expand the collaboration to more parties, he says, and opens the door to both power producers and others who want to develop power production in Trøndelag and further north.”
