Offshore wind developers have been given an additional 21 working days to submit their applications for newly introduced Clean Industry Bonus payments offered under the UK government’s flagship Contracts for Difference scheme.
Energy department DESNZ confirmed the application window will now run from 13 February to 14 April, giving 43 working days instead of the previous 22 and superseding an earlier deadline of 14 March.
The CfD CIB scheme, which applies for the first time to fixed bottom and floating wind developers from this year’s Allocation Round 7, is a new eligibility requirement for entry into the full CfD auction, for which dates are yet to be published.
The payments will be made at a rate of £27m per GW of capacity applying to the CIB to developers who have pledged to increase the sustainability of supply chains.
This could include investing in new factories in economically disadvantaged areas across the UK or choosing companies investing in sustainable manufacturing projects to build their projects.
