DTEK joins Ukrainian energy recovery initiative

The EU arm of Ukrainian renewable developer DTEK will build the company’s second wind farm in Croatia.

The 120MW Ljubovo wind farm will be based in Lika-Senj County, central Croatia.

DTEK’s EU arm DRI aims to begin construction on the project in 2027.

DRI received preliminary access point to the grid from HOPS, the national Transmission System Operator (TSO) in November 2024 and filed for the energy approval to the Ministry of Economy of Croatia at the end of last year.

Ivan Geliukh, CEO of DRI said: “DRI is increasingly playing an active role in Croatia’s energy transition as we will build a third renewable energy project in the country.

“In addition to contributing to the country’s clean energy targets, the development of the Ljubovo wind farm will showcase DRI’s in-house capabilities in engineering, construction, and operations, leveraging on our expertise in generating value along the supply chain and construction management.”

The Ljubovo project will join two other DRI renewable energy developments in Croatia: the 127.5MW Brda Umovi wind farm and the 60MWp Vedrine solar park in Split.

Brda Umovi will add an additional 28.8MW in a second phase, with grid connection expected in the second half of 2026.

Vedrine solar park is expected to supply energy to the Croatian grid in the second half of 2027.

DRI said it is interesting in working with traders and off-takers to develop long-term power purchase agreements and participating in a future Contract for Difference scheme in Croatia.
