Duckett (pictured) has more than 25 years of experience in technology, having held several senior leadership positions.

He has been promoted from his previous position of global head of IT and digital at Sonnedix.

As the renewables industry rapidly evolves, Sonnedix is adopting technologies aimed at driving efficiencies, optimisation, and innovation across the business.

The company sees artificial intelligence (AI) as a significant opportunity to not just improve the efficiency and reliability of renewable energy production but also drive productivity, reduce costs, and support revenue growth.

Duckett will oversee Sonnedix’s digitalisation strategy, with a focus on implementing digital and AI tools and platforms to provide the business with enhanced analytics and automation.

Chief executive officer of Sonnedix Axel Thiemann said: “Our decision to create a new leadership position focused on digitalisation and technology is a clear sign of how we are growing as a business.

“Simon’s wealth of experience will play a significant role in identifying and adopting the latest innovation to scale and accelerate our optimisation journey.”

Commenting on his appointment, Duckett said: “Technology moves fast, and Sonnedix’s culture of innovation and continuous learning creates an exceptional platform to embrace digitalisation.

“AI in particular presents a tremendous opportunity, and we’ve already cultivated a strong appetite internally for productivity tools.

“Our approach isn’t a single bet on AI – we’re investing in employee productivity, exploring diverse platforms, and deploying multiple large language models to address dynamic use cases.

“I’m excited to step into the chief digital officer role to unlock new efficiencies and opportunities across the business.”

Prior to joining Sonnedix, Duckett was the vice president for Digital at Arm, a semiconductor and software design business.
