Avery Dennison has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Zelestra for renewable energy from its 44MW solar plant in Spain.
Zelestra’s Las Rozas solar plant in Seville (pictured) will generate 90GWh of renewable electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 25,000 Spanish households.
This is expected to prevent the emission of roughly 16,290 tons of CO2 per year.
Chief commercial officer of Zelestra Ivan Nieto said: “The vPPA with Avery Dennison is a clear example of how Zelestra creates customised energy solutions to support our customers’ decarbonisation efforts.
“We are proud to partner with Avery Dennison by delivering clean, sustainable energy that allows them to make progress on their sustainability and emissions reduction objectives.”
Head of enterprise sustainability at Avery Dennison Michael Colarossi said: “Accessing sustainable energy sources is foundational to our company’s overall commitment to reducing scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
“We are partnering with Zelestra to make sustainable energy sources more widely available across the energy grid.”
Zelestra operates 11 renewable energy plants in Spain with a total installed capacity of 428MWdc and a project portfolio currently exceeding 5GW.
