Saipem has run into a delay drilling for foundations at the 450MW Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind project in France.
The contractor started the operation late last year, understood to be last October, but to date has only completed one foundation location.
The company declined to comment.
EDF, which is leading the project alongside Skyborn Renewables, Enbridge and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, told reNEWS in a statement: “Following a series of tests and adjustments to ensure that the drill was running smoothly, drilling operations began late in the second half of 2024 and are now underway.
“The teams are mobilized with the aim of defining a new schedule for the site in the coming months.”
It is feared that the delay in drilling will mean that the commissioning of the site, expected in 2025, will be pushed back to 2026.
The delay was first reported by Bloomberg.
