Aukera Energy has submitted a full planning application to the City of York Council for its proposed 250MW grid battery project in the north of England.
The battery energy storage system (BESS) scheme is designed to help advance the region’s energy transition, providing a reliable source of renewable energy storage and supporting the UK’s journey toward a net zero future.
From its inception, the project has prioritised sustainable development by incorporating advanced technology and strategic site planning to reduce visual and ecological impacts.
The team has considered how to mitigate disruption, reflecting community concerns and environmental priorities, to ensure the project integrates into the local area.
Aaron Jackson, development manager at Aukera Energy, said: “We are delighted to reach this important milestone.
“The positive feedback from the community and our collaborative work with stakeholders have been instrumental in shaping a project we’re incredibly proud of.
“Our efforts have focused on designing a scheme that delivers significant energy resilience while minimising its impact on the local community and environment.”
The application follows a comprehensive consultation process with local residents, stakeholders, and community groups.
Jackson added: “This submission represents months of dialogue and partnership.
“We’ve worked alongside stakeholders, local authorities, and environmental experts to ensure our plans align with community values and sustainability principles.”
