The first round of public consultations have closed for ScottishPower and Shell’s 3GW MarramWind floating wind farm off the north-east coast of Aberdeenshire.
The project team thanked people across Aberdeenshire for participating in the process, which included public drop-in events in Peterhead and Longside, a virtual exhibition and live online Q&A sessions.
Feedback from all those who took part will now be reviewed and considered before a further round of consultation later in the year.
“Huge thanks to everyone who took part in this first stage of formal consultation for MarramWind – whether that was in person, in writing or online,” said MarramWind project director Richard Eakin.
“We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to take part and we really appreciate the time and effort taken to find out more about the project.
“We were also pleased to be invited to give a presentation to the Buchan Development Partnership on our plans for the windfarm and what it could mean for the region.
“MarramWind has the potential to be a real game changer for the north-east – providing clean homegrown electricity, hand in hand with opportunities for investment, jobs and supply chain growth.
“This consultation was only the start of our conversations and engagement with local people and communities and there will be lots more to come as we move forward to bring this exciting green project to life.”
