Vestas has closed out the second quarter by confirming 830MW of fresh onshore wind turbine deals.
The Danish manufacturer on Friday confirmed two contracts totalling 220MW in Germany in Lausitz and Lower Saxony, as well as deals in the UK for 81MW, Turkey for over 100MW, a 99MW Lithuania EPCI contract, 144MW in South Africa, 95MW Argentina and an 84MW US repowering deal.
The largest was a 144MW order announced late on Friday with African Clean Energy Developments (ACED) for the Umsinde Emoyeni wind farm, to be located in Western Cape, South Africa.
The contract includes the supply and installation of 32 V163-4.5 MW wind turbines, as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
Vestas also received an 84MW order to repower an undisclosed wind project in the USA. The repower order consists of 38 V110-2.2 MW turbines.
In Argentina, secured another undisclosed deal for the supply and installation of 21 V150-4.5MW turbines.
In Europe, Vestas bagged a 99MW order from Aquila Clean Energy to deliver a full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solution for the wind energy project Akmene 2 in Lithuania.
Vestas meanwhile received a over 100MW in Turkey, including a 63MW order from Kangal Energy, Is Portföy Infrastructure VCIF and Is Portfoy Renewable Energy VCIF to extend the five existing wind parks of Kangal, Bereketli, Akyurt, Karaçayir, Konakpinar wind parks. They are all located in Sivas and Tokat, Türkiye.
The contract includes the supply and installation of a total of 12 V150-4.5 MW wind turbines and two V136-4.5MW wind turbines, as well as a 10-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service
The second Turkish deal was to install ten wind turbines at an unnamed project.
The contract includes the supply and installation of the V150-4.5 MW wind turbines as well as a 15-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.
Vestas head of Turkey, Levent Ishak said: “We believe that the reliability and versatility of our portfolio will continue to play a paramount role in Türkiye’s energy transition.”
Turbine delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2025, while commissioning is expected to take place in the second half of 2025.
Vestas installed Turkey’s first wind turbine in 1984 and has since then delivered over 2GW of wind capacity in the country.
