Conference to highlight English offshore wind

The full potential of offshore wind in England’s Humber region will be the focus of the Offshore Wind Connections (OWC2024) conference in Hull on 1 May and 2 May.

Other topics will include major project updates, the contribution of offshore wind to net zero targets, the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, development of the supply chain, innovation and sustainability, regional infrastructure and skills development.

Influential speakers will provide spotlights and in-depth information on significant developments with highlights including the conference keynote speaker Corrine Barry, RWE’s UK East Coast Director for Net Zero. Also speaking will be Dan McGrail from RenewableUK, Morten Holm (pictured) from platinum sponsor Orsted, Bailey Bradley from XceCO (Lynn and Inner Dowsing) and Chris Jenner from Outer Dowsing.

The panel sessions, chaired by former business journalist Dave Laister, will bring together government, academia and industry to give unique perspectives and provide learning opportunities for audience and panellists alike. More than 30 experts are taking part in the on-stage discussions where hot topics of the day will be explored.

OWC2024 is hosted by Humber Marine & Renewables and is being held in partnership with the Humber Renewables Awards. With headline sponsorship from RWE and a list of many other high-profile supporters, OWC2024 is in its 11th year and is being held at Hull’s DoubleTree by Hilton.

“We are once again combining it with the Humber Renewables Awards which will provide a real buzz around the event with many of the finalists also involved in the conference,” said chair of Humber Marine & Renewables Iain Butterworth.

“There is no other opportunity like this for the industry to come together, network and collaborate to help shape the future of the sector as well as celebrate what has been achieved to date by individuals, companies and the whole region.”

In addition to lead sponsor RWE and platinum sponsor Orsted, the conference has attracted gold sponsors Associated British Ports, Andrew Jackson Solicitors, Aquila, Bacon Engineering, Butterworth Marine, MMS Offshore Renewables, North Yorkshire Council and Pentagon Marine. Silver sponsors are Humber Freeport, Xocean and ORE Catapult with RSM sponsoring the networking drinks.
