Jan De Nul Group’s newest Jan De Nul Group’s cable-laying vessel will be able to run on (bio)diesel, HVO and methanol.
ABC Engines will provide the Fleeming Jenkin with four 7200kW engines and one 1800kW engine that can run on clean fuels.
Notwithstanding significantly reduced emissions of harmful greenhouse gasses, methanol also offers the advantage of being already available in more than one hundred ports around the world.
Fleeming Jenkin is the company’s first ULEv vessel with methanol engines.
Jan Van de Velde, Director Newbuilding at Jan De Nul Group: “The choice for ABC is based on a positive collaboration and shared vision of a sustainable future.
