ESB and Red Rock Power have signed capacity reservation agreements with Chinese fabricators Dajin Offshore and Guangzhou Wenchong for XXL monopile foundations for the 1100MW Inch Cape wind farm off east Scotland.
Fabrication of the monopiles is due to commence in late 2024 with delivery to the bases scheduled for late 2025.
The agreements secure the supply, fabrication and delivery of foundations for the wind farm which is progressing towards full construction, said the developers.
XXL monopiles are designed for the latest generation of offshore turbines.
The Inch Cape structures will each have a maximum outer diameter of 11.5 metres, a maximum length of 110 metres and a weight of up to 2700 tonnes.
The foundations will support Vestas 15MW turbines, which have already been selected as the preferred hardware for the wind farm.
Inch Cape will be sited in the North Sea 15km from the east coast of Angus in Scotland.
