Dohoku Wind Farm, part of Eurus Energy, has produced first power at its 64MW Kawanishi wind farm on Hokkaido Island, Japan.
The site is a part of the Dohoku Wind Power Generation Project, under which 107 turbines will be installed across six wind farms in the northern Hokkaido area.
It is the third wind park in the scheme, alongside Hamasato and Kawaminami.
The Kawanishi array consists of 15 Siemens Gamesa turbines with an output of 4.3MW, one of the largest in Japan. All electricity generated will be sold to Hokkaido Electric Power Network. It is expected to generate electricity equivalent to the power consumption of approximately 47,000 average households and reduce CO2 emissions by 73,000 tons per year.
Eurus said based on its corporate philosophy of “helping to preserve the global environment by disseminating and expanding clean energy technologies” and its corporate vision to “develop with local communities and maintain the trust of society”, it will continue to work on further expansion of wind power generation and contribute to global environmental conservation and the creation of a sustainable society.
