Collett has delivered a 184-tonne transformer to Corduff Substation in Ireland.
Wworking in collaboration with Wagenborg, the haulage company was responsible for the final leg of the project from Dublin Port to its ultimate destination at the outskirts of the city.
The transformer’s dimensions were 9.3 metres long. by 3.6 metres wide and 4.6 metres high, with a total vehicle length of 65.4 metres.
“This meticulous process involved producing a comprehensive swept path analysis report that assessed every turn along the route to guarantee the safe transportation of the oversized cargo,” said the company.
“Additionally, we generated a report for removing street furniture to identify and eliminate any obstacles or obstructions along the route,” it added.
“We also secured the necessary permits for an alternative route to circumvent the motorway due to specific restrictions.
“Before the transformer arrived at Dublin Port, we mobilised our 550 Tonne capacity girder frame trailer and heavy tractor units, which we transported from the UK to Ireland.
“The delivery itself occurred during night time movements, strategically planned to traverse through Dublin City Centre.
“Covering a distance of 13.4 miles, the journey took four hours, with a maximum vehicle speed of five5 miles per hour. Police escorts and our in-house pilot cars accompanied the 65.4-meter-long load to the substation site.”
