A Swiss court has backed plans for the Quatre Bornes wind farm following legal action aimed at stopping the project.
The Cantonal Court of Neuchâtel rejected the appeal of the opponents of the three wind turbines planned in the Municipality of Val-de-Ruz.
Following an in-depth examination of the various aspects of the project, in particular related to the environmental impact, energy efficiency, the preservation of heritage and biodiversity, the Court of Public Law of the Cantonal Court of Neuchâtel dismissed the appeal of the opponents of the Quatre Bornes wind farm .
This decision concerns the three wind turbines located in Neuchâtel territory.
The court recognised the national interest of the Neuchâtel part of the project, as well as the fact that the cantonal master plan is not called into question and that the compensation measures provided for are relevant and satisfactory.
Opponents of the park project can still appeal to the Federal Court.
Quatre Bornes wind farm project also includes six wind turbines located in the canton of Bern, the fate of which is currently the subject of separate procedures.
