Hai Long Offshore Wind Project and EEW Korea Heavy Pipe Construction (EEW KHPC) has held the ceremonial first cut of steel in Korea, the latest milestone for the 744MW Taiwanese scheme.

Hai Long and EEW KHPC entered into Pin Piles Fabrication Contract in October 2022.

EEW KHPC will provide a total of 156 pin piles for the Hai Long offshore wind projects, to support the jacket foundations of the 14MW wind turbines.

The Hai Long offshore wind project continues to progress, having executed the majority of key contracts with suppliers and commenced early construction works including starting the fabrication of key components for the wind farm.

Frank Spee, EPCI Director of Hai Long, said: “The first cut of steel on these pin piles fabrication marks another important milestone for Hai Long, showcasing the steady progress of the manufacturing phase.

“We look forward to a safe execution of this contract, and together with our trusted partners EEW KHPC.

“We are confident to bring the Hai Long Project into operation on quality, schedule, and budget.”

EEW KHPC managing director Tsche-Hyun Park added: “We are delighted and proud to be here with the Hai Long team for this important steel-cutting ceremony to mark the very important milestone in a long journey of fabrication of 156 Pin Piles.

“We appreciate having a good opportunity to give our engineering expertise, cutting-edge technologies, and operational know-how in providing the highest quality standards and services towards the successful delivery of this project in a safe.

“We hope to contribute to delivering the project in a safe, timely, and efficient manner towards supporting the success of Hai Long Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan.”
