Baltica 1, an offshore wind company owned by PGE, has won second offshore wind lease site off Poland.
Baltica 1 has secured the 60.E.3 site, in results of a tender announced by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
Area 60.E.3 is located on the Central Baltic Sea Bank and is PGE’s second lease win in the round, after it won area 43.E.1 earlier this month.
Area 60.E.3 has potential to host up to 1185MW of installed offshore wind capacity and is adjacent to the Baltica 1 project already in development.
This will provide “great opportunities” to deploy synergies to execute both projects, said PGE President Wojciech Dąbrowski (pictured).
He said: “In some cases, it will be possible to carry out joint procurement procedures, inter alia, regarding research and obtaining components necessary for the construction and operation of offshore wind farms in this part of the Baltic Sea.
“This is the second recent proceeding decided in favour of PGE Group.
“This proves the high substantive quality of the prepared applications and the solid work of our specialists behind it.”
PGE Group’s strategy is to build at least 2040.6GW of offshore wind generation capacity in the Baltic Sea.
