ERG has brought online the 36MW second phase of its Sandy Knowe onshore wind farm in Scotland.
The milestone brings the project’s full 86.4MW capacity into operation, with a first phase commissioned in October.
A total of 24 Vestas turbines have been installed at the Dumfries and Galloway site.
The completed wind farm will provide an annual output of more than 250 gigawatt hours, the developer said, equivalent to the needs of about 55,000 households.
ERG chief executive Paolo Merli said: “With the energisation of the Sandy Knowe wind farm, the group has brought its current installed capacity in the United Kingdom to over 155MW, in line with the objectives of our 2022-2026 business plan and ahead of schedule.”
The Italian developer signed a 10-year PPA contract for the wind farm earlier this year, with energy trading company Engie UK Markets to offtake the full production from Sandy Knowe.
