Orsted has pushed back the final commissioning date for its 900MW Changhua 1&2a project in Taiwan to 2023 due to “COVID-19 related delays”.
The Danish developer confirmed the delay to the wind farm, which to date has installed 95 of 111 jacket foundations and 48 turbines, in its interim half-year results today.
Orsted said that was making “good progress” in all areas of the construction following first power at the project in April and that installation would continue “in the coming months”.
The update follows a warning in the company’s first quarter results earlier this year that COVID-19 restrictions in Taiwan could potentially affect the construction schedule for Changhua 1&2a and “eventually lead to delays”.
However, at the time Orsted had still expected to commission the project in the second half of 2022.
Orsted has meanwhile received its environmental impact assessment for 1.2GW Xu Feng 1&2, meaning the project is now eligible to compete in Taiwan’s upcoming auctions.
