Flotation Energy will hold a consultation event ahead of a marine licence application for its 300MW Green Volt floating offshore wind project next month.
The UK developer will hold two live virtual Q&A sessions regarding “proposed licensable marine activity” within Scottish waters east of Peterhead, where it plans to construct Green Volt around 80km from the shore.
Activities in the waters will involve installing two submarine export cables from the site to landfall as well as making rock deposits within the cable trenches to ensure complete burial, according to a Marine Scotland notice.
Flotation Energy will hold the sessions from 1-2pm and 6-7pm on 20 September. It also plans to take public comments on its proposed development up until 20 October.
A scoping report for Green Volt was submitted to Scottish authorities at the end of last year, with the developer planning to build a 30-turbine project that would power CNOOC Petroleum Europe’s Buzzard oil & gas facility in the North Sea from 2026.
It is expected to submit the project into Crown Estate Scotland’s Innovation and Targeted Oil and Gas (INTOG) seabed leasing round this year.
