Vestas has won a 103MW turbine deal for the Buena Ventura wind project in the province of Buenos Aires, in Argentina.
The project, which will be owned by Tenaris, will feature 24 V150-4.2MW wind turbines in 4.3MW operating mode which Vestas will supply and install.
Turbine delivery is planned for the third quarter of 2022, whilst commissioning is expected for the third quarter of 2023.
The wind park would supply close to 50% of Tenaris’s electricity requirements for its Siderca mill in Argentina
Vestas will also service the turbines for 20 years.
Vestas LatAm South Cone senior sales director Andres Gismondi said: “We are delighted to seal this first deal with Tenaris and support this renowned company, with worldwide operations including and a strong presence in Latin America, to accelerate the decarbonising of its production, as part of its energy transition strategy.”
Tenaris Southern Cone president Javier Martinez Alvarez added: “This project is a milestone for Tenaris, and a clear step towards reducing emissions linked to the use of renewable energy in our production process.”
