Sonnedix has achieved commercial operation of a 40MW solar plant in Japan.
The Soma solar plant is the ninth large-scale solar project fully managed through the development, financing, and construction phase by Sonnedix Japan, for the Sonnedix Group.
Soma brings the operating capacity of the Sonnedix Group’s Japanese portfolio to 400MW.
Located in the city of Soma, Fukushima prefecture, the plant is expected to produce 48,700 megawatt hours of clean energy during its first full year of operation.
The electricity generated by the solar plant will be sold through an 18.5-year plus Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
“Reaching 400MW operational capacity is a noteworthy milestone in our Japan growth strategy and is one that we plan to surpass very soon,” said Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix.
“Sonnedix is committed to the Japanese market; we are actively seeking opportunities to expand our global footprint and push forward the energy transition.”
Sonnedix Japan, on behalf of Sonnedix Group, manages a total capacity that includes projects under construction and development of approximately 500MW.
Sonnedix Soma represents the third EPC collaboration with Daiwa House Industry.
The solar plant uses Hanwha monocrystalline modules and TMEIC inverters.
Daiwa House will also perform operations and maintenance services for the solar PV plant.
