Energinet is to build a 400kV 25 km connection between Landerupgard in Kolding Municipality and Revsing in Vejen Municipality in Denmark, following technical analysis.
The connection will be an important transport corridor for green energy from the North Sea to electricity consumers in East Jutland and on Funen and for the export of green Danish wind power across the land border, Energinet said.
In 2016 and a supplementary agreement from October 2020, the Danish Parliament decided that Energinet can install new high voltage connections as underground cables where technically possible.
The grid operator’s analysis shows that a 400 kV connection on a stretch between Landerupgard and Revsing is possible with cables underground.
At the high 400 kV voltage level, underground cables amplify so-called “electrical noise” in the mains.
Noise is a major problem, which in the worst-case scenario can cause damage to components of the grid or electrical appliances.
However, cable laying of the line between Landerupgard and Revsing will remain within the permitted limits, Energinet stated.
