Flexible power producer Conrad Energy has signed a framework agreement with GE Renewable Energy for the supply of energy storage equipment in the UK.
The US company will design, manufacture, and supply kit for a number of Conrad’s sites from Blackpool to Basingstoke after winning a “robust” tender competition.
Deliveries will start in mid-2022 and all projects will be operational by the end of that year.
Steven Hardman, Conrad Energy’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to be working with GE whose approach provides flexibility to operate in different markets while, importantly, also having the ability to add more hours of storage in the future as the market matures.
“We are convinced that battery storage has a fundamental role to play in the UK’s transition to net zero and are excited to continue the build out of our portfolio.”
The sites will feature GE’s Reservoir storage units of various sizes, from 7-30MWh each
