American Electric Power has issued three requests for proposals (RfPs), including for up to 3GW of wind capacity.
Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), a subsidiary of American Electric Power, issued the RfPs, the second of which is seeking bids for up to 300MW of solar while the third is seeking short-term accredited deliverable capacity of up to 250MW.
Wind resources must be a minimum of 100MW, interconnect to the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and be located in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas or Missouri.
Solar resources must be a minimum of 50MW, interconnect to SWEPCO’s transmission system within SPP and be located in the SWEPCO service territory.
Proposals for short-term capacity must be for a minimum of 50MW from SPP resources.
Proposals are due by 12 August 2021.
Proposals selected from the three RFPs are subject to appropriate regulatory approvals.
