Spanish duo Greenalia and Cluster Maritimo de Canarias (CMC) are working together on a common forum to promote industrial development of offshore wind off Spain’s Canary Islands.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed by Greenalia chief executive Manuel Garcia and CMC president Vicente Marrero to undertake to study and design an implementation strategy that helps project development.
The aim is to position the islands as a place of reference in terms of offshore wind energy, the duo said.
Greenalia said it had also progressed with the permitting process for the 50MW Gofio project, as well as studies of four other 50MW developments – Dunas, Mojo, Cardon and Guanche – all located in the south-east area off the island of Gran Canaria.
It will look to work with local companies on the islands and has already partnered with Blue Lines Renewables.
