Ternan Energy (Ternan) and Geosyntec have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate while providing marine geoscience and engineering advisory services in the US.
The two employee-owned companies believe that through mutual collaboration their capabilities and capacity to support existing and new clients will be strengthened.
It is hoped the collaboration will provide clients direct access to a geotechnical engineering team located throughout the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
This team will have a wealth of knowledge and experience in offshore geotechnics that includes planning, procuring, and supervising integrated geophysical and geotechnical site investigation programs for characterisation of the foundation zone.
It will also have experience in assessing and analysis of geohazards, analysis and design of foundations; and a very significant focus on exceptional customer service, Ternan said.
Its managing director Mark Finch said: “Ternan is excited to expand our US activities with Geosyntec.
“Collaborating with experienced and like-minded partners ensures our clients will benefit from an unrivalled range of specialist expertise in marine geoscience and engineering.
“We have known the Geosyntec team for a number of years and it is clear that we share common values and a mutual respect for the high-quality advisory support that both companies are passionate about.
“This collaboration brings together significant industry experience that is applicable through the entire project development cycle, from geological desk top studies, feasibility assessments, site characterization, offshore management and cable route engineering through to detailed foundation design and installation analyses.
“With the recent incorporation of Ternan Energy we are uniquely positioned to continue our support of the energytransition in the US.”
Geosyntec senior principal Rodolfo Sancio added: “We are enthused to collaborate with Ternan to provide top-notch geotechnical engineering services for offshore facilities.
“We live in a time in which the United States is planning to rapidly expand its offshore wind energy output and aggressively transition power generation to renewable sources.
“This process will require inputs from the best teams for geotechnical analyses and designs that lead to safer, more efficient, and more economical solutions.
“Collaboration with Ternan will allow us to meet this challenge as we combine Geosyntec’s multi-disciplinary capabilities, offshore experience, and geographic presence with Ternan’s experience servicing the offshore wind industry in Europe.”
