Enercon has won a 305MW turbine order from Potentia Renewables for three wind projects in Canada.
Enercon will supply 55 E-160 EP5 E3 turbines with 114 metre hybrid steel towers, each capable of producing up to 5.56MW, for three projects in Canada over two years.
Enercon will also service the turbines under a long-term agreement.
“We have seen a lot of momentum for the new EP5 platform in different international markets”, said Momme Janssen, CEO of Enercon.
“We are delighted that Potentia Renewables has cho[1]sen ENERCON for three projects that will supply electricity to the Alberta market at record low pricing. This shows that the new EP5 flagship model is well suited for countries that have a long history of competitive procurement processes”.
The Jenner projects are located just north of the hamlet of Jenner, Alberta and east of the city of Brooks.
Jenner 1 and Jenner 2 have been selected for power purchase agreements under the Renewable Electricity Procurement Round 3 by the Alberta Electric System Operator in 2018 and are expected to begin commercial operations in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
The Jenner 3 project is planned to enter into a bilateral power purchase agreement and will begin commercial operations in 2022.
