Offshore developer US Wind has appointed Jeffrey Grybowski as its chief executive.
Grybowski (pictured) will lead the company as it embarks on the development of its 270MW Maryland development, 27km off Ocean City.
Grybowski joins from Danish developer Orsted where he recently served as co-chief executive of the company’s US offshore wind business.
He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having also served as chief executive of developer Deepwater Wind between 2012 and 2018.
As head of Deepwater Wind, Grybowski was influential in the development and construction of the US’s first offshore wind farm – the 30MW Block Island project.
Under Grybowski’s leadership Deepwater Wind also secured a portfolio of wind leases across multiple US states.
In August, funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management committed to invest up to $265 million in convertible debt and equity to acquire a stake in US Wind and fund development and construction costs for the Maryland offshore wind project, which is due online in 2024.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the US Wind team. We have big plans to deliver offshore wind to the state of Maryland,” said Grybowski.
“This company had a strategic vision for offshore wind in the US long before others in Europe made the jump to this market.”
Managing Director of US Wind’s principle owner Renexia SpA, Riccardo Toto, said he was “very exited” for Jeff to lead the US Wind team.
“His experience in navigating the complex development system in the United States is unmatched. We are building an innovative company at US Wind, and Jeff is the perfect person to lead it.”
