The French Council of State has ruled in favour of developer Ailes Marines in a legal challenge against its 496MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm off the north coast of France.
The decision was handed down on Wednesday in the appeal case, which was brought by local groups against the 62-turbine project.
The case was taken in relation to the switch from Adwen to Siemens Gamesa turbines, it is understood.
“Ailes Marines welcomes this judgment,” the Iberdrola-led development consortium said in a statement.
“Following the decisions of the Council of State taken in recent years in favour of the project, it confirms the company’s compliance in every way with the very demanding administrative processes defined in the regulations for the development of offshore wind farms in France.”
The appeal was the last outstanding against the project, which is due to be commissioned in 2023, in French courts.
Ailes Marines is also waiting on the outcome of an appeal in the European Court of Justice against a decision by the European Commission to support French projects under EU state aid laws.
The state-aid case concerns Saint-Brieuc and five other projects in French territorial waters that ware awarded in tenders between 2011 and 2013.
