Japan has opened a tender for the development of offshore wind farms at four areas off the country’s coast.
The auction was launched by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

It covers Noshiro City, Mitane Town and Oga City, and Yurihonjo City off the coast of Akita Prefecture and Choshi City off Chiba Prefecture.
The deadline for bids is 5pm local time on 27 May next year.
METI said a briefing session for applicants will be held on the 18 December.
