Engineering consultancy Royal HaskoningDHV has been hired to provide environmental impact assessment (EIA) services in support of the development consent order for RWE and SSE’s North Falls offshore wind farm, which will be an extension to the existing Greater Gabbard project in the south North Sea.
The consultancy said it will work with the North Falls team to develop management and mitigation measures as part of the EIA and Habitats Regulations Assessment.
North Falls consents manager Daniel Harper said: “We welcome Royal HaskoningDHV to the team and look forward to benefitting from their significant and comprehensive expertise in the sector.
“Their appointment marks the kick off of our EIA process and is a tangible step forward in this early phase of North Falls’ development.”
Royal HaskoningDHV project director Ed Frost said: “This is an exciting opportunity to continue our leading role in offshore wind consultancy.
“We will be leading on a range of offshore and onshore disciplines that are required to successfully deliver a nationally significant infrastructure project, incorporating the collective experience, having consented 12GW of offshore wind in the UK during more than 20 years in the industry.”
