Heerema’s SSCV Sleipnir vessel has completed installation of the jacket foundation for the reactive compensation substation (RCS) platform at Orsted’s 1400MW Hornsea 2 offshore wind farm off the east coast of England.
Installation of the RCS platform foundation follows installation of a 5000-tonne jacket for the offshore substation at the end of September, the company said.
The vessel then moved to the shallow water RCS location to install the platform’s foundation, it added.
Heerema said that the successful and safe installation completes about two years of a close partnership between Orsted, fabricator SMOE in Batam and its transportation subcontractor Biglift.
“Heerema is proud to work within the wind sector, and we will be back to complete our scope at Hornsea 2 in 2021,” it said.
