Nordex Group’s turbine orders were down almost 28% in the third quarter of 2020, compared with the same period last year.
The German manufacturer said it received orders for 271 turbines with a total output of 1228.6MW between the 1 July and end of September.
This was down on the 1700.3MW booked in the third quarter of 2019.
Nordex said the Delta4000-series (pictured) with an output range of 4-5MW accounted for 86% of the orders in the period this year.
The US accounted for 50% of the new deals, buoyed by two large orders, while 31% were in Europe, primarily Germany, Netherlands, UK and France.
Latin America contributed 19% of new orders with projects in Colombia and Brazil.
Nordex said that in the first nine months of 2020, the company’s total order intake – excluding its services business – amounted to 3758.5MW, down from 4738.7MW in the first three quarters of 2019.
Nordex chief sales officer Patxi Landa said: “The third quarter confirms that our customers in Europe, North America and Latin America are equally convinced by our highly efficient Delta4000 turbines.
“Despite individual delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic, demand remains strong – including the outlook for the rest of the year.”
