Scottish construction company I&H Brown has confirmed it has secured a contract to build the onshore substation for the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe wind farm off the east coast of Scotland.
The Perth-based contractor has won the deal from lead transmission supplier GE’s grid solutions business.
The agreement was first reported by subscriber-only reNEWS in October 2019.
NNG’s onshore substation is located 16km inland from Dunbar next door to an existing facility serving Fred Olsen’s Crystal Rig wind farm in East Lothian.
“We are undertaking all the civils elements of the substation to enable the site including 5 portal frame buildings in preparation for the specialist electrical equipment arriving on site,” said I&H Brown.
GE is responsible for delivery of the transmission system, including a pair of offshore substations.
Dutch fabricator HSM Offshore is supplying the offshore topsides.
NNG is being developed by EDF Renewables and ESB and is due online feature Siemens Gamesa turbines in 2023.
