Danish company Welcon has entered into an agreement with Century Huaxin Wind Energy to cooperate on tower fabrication for Taiwanese and Asian wind energy markets.
Century Huaxin Wind Energy, which is a subsidiary of Century Iron & Steel Industrial Company, has secured 30 hectares of land in an industrial park at Taichung Harbour for a tower factory.
Welcon will provide its experience and technological knowhow in order for Century Huaxin Wind Energy to design, build and operate the facility to the same standards as towers produced by the former at its facility in Denmark.
The factory design will be able to produce the next generation large offshore wind turbine towers, which can be up to 10 metres in diameter, 50-60 metres long and have section weight of 400 tonnes.
Work on the facility is underway and production is slated to start in early 2022.
