Danish offshore wind consultancy Lautec has launched a new simulation tool called Esox that allows users to model and analyse offshore operations.
The free simulation tool is Excel based and allows analysis of how long it typically takes to install a foundation, determine the best months for blade repair and compare project sites around the world, among other things.
The company said Esox is a combination of a sequential downtime modelling tool and a global data map, providing high-quality reanalysis of 30 years of metocean data.
ERA5 data has been provided by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, Lautec said.
Lautec partner Henrik Sogaard Iversen said: “The success of our company and our fight against climate change depends on the cost of offshore wind.
“We believe that Esox can help drive the costs down by providing a better understanding of offshore operations in existing and new markets.”
