Authorities in Scotland have given Red Rock Power the go ahead to increase top power at the Inch Cape offshore wind farm from 700MW to 1GW.
Scottish Ministers ruled the proposed variation to the existing consent is “reasonable and enforceable”.

Red Rock applied for the power rating boost in February.
The application does not alter the design of the project, which is based around 72 turbines with rotor diameters of 250 metres and tip heights of 291 metres.
Red Rock, which is owned by Chinese company SDIC Power, is exploring a route to market for the project after failing to secure a Contract for Difference last year.
The wind farm is located between 15km and 22km off Angus.
