German developer Energiequelle has started construction of the 30MW Konttisuo wind farm in Finland.
The project, which is being built 20km south-east of the municipality of Soini, will feature seven Nordex N149/4.0-4.5 turbines, delivered as cold climate versions equipped with an anti-icing system.
The energy-efficient heating of this system prevents ice from accumulating on the rotor blades and turbines.
Energiequelle has contracted Infra Builders to construct the roads, foundations, cabling and the associated transformer station.
Infra Builders has started with the road construction and will then move on to the first foundations.
Nordex is also servicing the hardware for 25 years.
The wind farm is scheduled to be commissioned in December 2021.
Energiequelle Finland country manager Nils Borstelmann said: “Throughout the entire development phase, the Konttisuo project has received a lot of encouragement and support from the local community and the municiplaity.
“We would like to thank them for this and reassure that Energiequelle is a reliable partner for the people in the region.
“The experience we have gained with the Konttisuo project will be put to good use in the development of other projects in the region, such as our Kimpilamminkangas project.”
