Chinese manufacturer MingYang Smart Energy is to supply 8MW turbines to China Three Gorges’ Xinghua Bay 2 offshore wind farm off Fujian province.
The deal is for MySE 8.0-180 machines, which have a 180-metre rotor diameter.
MingYang said turbines will be installed at the project site approximately five kilometres off the coast in Xinghua Bay North.
The company supplied MySE5.5-155 turbines to the Xinghua Bay 1 pilot project, which were installed in 2018.
“Winning the tender is a great example of MingYang’s capabilities to offer reliable solutions to areas with typhoon and complex sea condition,” the company said.
“We are witnessing and involving in the acceleration of offshore wind market, and we are looking forward the MySE 8.0-180 which inherits the same technology and genes of MySE 5.5-155 to bringing higher rate of return to our customers,” it added.
