UK Energy Department BEIS has extended the closing date on the consultation for the fourth Contracts for Difference round by a week due to COVID-19.
Interested parties now have until 29 May to respond to the government’s plans to revamp the 2021 auction by readmitting onshore wind and potentially carving out a standalone pot for offshore wind among other proposals currently on the table.
BEIS said it took the decision after receiving a number of requests to extend the deadline past the original 22 May cut-off.
“We recognise that many stakeholders may be occupied with the current response to the COVID-19 emergency and we have therefore decided to extend the consultation closing date by one week,” said BEIS in an update today.
“We are committed to the aim of opening the next Allocation Round in 2021 (AR4) and are therefore keen to ensure that wherever possible the policy development process ahead of this remains on track. We therefore strongly encourage you to submit material by 29 May.”
Consultation documents can be access here.
BEIS meanwhile said it will examine feedback in the final CfD4 design from a series of webinar events that were held between 30 April and 6 May.
Attendees raised a series of questions including the treatment of hybrid offshore projects, what pot remote island wind would be placed in and the delivery years for the auction.
