UK electricity regulator Ofgem has agreed to compensate the Offshore Transmission Owner at RWE Renewables’ 219MW Humber Gateway wind farm in the North Sea for power exports lost during repairs last year.
Ofgem will adjust the system incentive performance of Humber Gateway OFTO by 6,023MWh to cover a reduction in service on one of the project’s two export cables which occurred between 1 and 3 July 2019.
The regulator agreed the repairs qualified for compensation on the grounds they were necessitated by the faulty installation of a clip designed to prevent water ingress into a cable joint during the construction of the project.
A consortium of Balfour Beatty Investments and Equitix makes up the OFTO company for Humber Gateway.
The project was fully commissioned in 2015 and features 72 MHI Vestas 3MW turbines.
