Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up Brave Tern has started its journey to Taiwan to start installing the turbines for the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind project.
Brave Tern departed the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark on Monday, the company said.
In March 2019, Siemens Gamesa awarded Fred Olsen Windcarrier with a contract to transport and install 80 Siemens Gamesa 8.0-167 DD wind turbines on the Yunlin wind farm located some six kilometres off the south-west coast of Taiwan.
Following the work at Yunlin, Brave Tern will install 62 MHI Vestas V174-9.5MW turbines at the 600MW Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farms also off Taiwan.
The installation will be split into two phases which will be carried out in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
